Thong Dee came to us after being brought to a spay event with a serious leg wound following a car accident. X-rays showed the bone had already fused, meaning she would never be able to fully straighten that leg again.
Her family had waited over a month to seek help because of the cost. They love their dogs deeply and volunteer their time at community spay events, but veterinary care was simply beyond what they could afford.
At the time, we chose the conservative route. Thong Dee was lifting the leg well, so we began wound treatment and monitoring, hoping we could avoid surgery. For a while, it looked promising.
But over the last few weeks we’ve seen a change. She’s started dragging the paw and new wounds have appeared. As much as we hoped to save the leg, it’s become clear that amputation is now the only way to give her a comfortable, pain-free life.
We’ve spoken to the vet and the total cost will be around 15,000 THB. That includes the surgery itself, medication, supplies, and an overnight stay for morphine and monitoring. We’re hoping to have the operation done this week.
